As I reflect on my first year at Tallulah Falls School in the role of Chairman of Student Activities and Weekend Programming and Residential Life Coordinator, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. This year has been an incredible journey of growth, learning, and connection with students, faculty, and staff alike. I have had the privilege of watching students engage in meaningful experiences, develop as leaders, and embrace the vibrant community we work hard to nurture at Tallulah Falls. From weekend excursions to student activities that foster inclusivity and school spirit, every moment has been an opportunity to support student engagement and development.
I would be remiss not to mention that Tallulah Falls has been a pivotal place for me personally. When I first arrived, I was still rebuilding my confidence and sense of purpose. Over the course of this year, Tallulah has not only been a professional home but also a place that helped me rediscover my passion and self-belief. This community has truly been transformative, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Mr. Jon Benson, Director of Residential Life; Ms. Allie Audet, Assistant Director of Residential Life; and Preston Fowler, Head Residential Life Coordinator for the boys dorm, who helped me learn the ropes and gave me the guidance and support needed to flourish in this role. Their mentorship has been invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful for their willingness to share their knowledge and expertise.
Looking ahead, I am excited to take on a new challenge this summer as a Royal Thai Scholars Fellow at Brewster Academy. This opportunity will allow me to work closely with Thailand’s brightest high school graduates, guiding them through their transition into U.S. boarding schools. In this role, I will provide personalized academic and residential mentorship, supporting students as they prepare for higher education and helping them navigate the cultural differences that come with studying abroad. Through TOEFL preparation, essay writing, and conversations around American culture, I will ensure these students are not only prepared academically but also equipped to thrive socially and emotionally in their new environment.
Additionally, I will be focused on designing and leading experiential learning activities, ranging from recreational programs to leadership-building exercises. These initiatives will promote student engagement and personal development, providing students with a well-rounded and meaningful experience while at Brewster. I’m particularly excited about the opportunity to help these students build leadership skills, teamwork, and resilience in a new cultural context.
Throughout the summer, I plan to share updates with you, giving a behind-the-scenes look at my experience as a Royal Thai Scholars Fellow. These articles will be a kind of “diary” chronicling my journey at Brewster, offering insights into the day-to-day activities, the challenges and triumphs, and the incredible cultural exchange taking place. I look forward to sharing the highs and lows of this transformative experience as I work alongside these bright students and contribute to their success in their U.S. boarding school journey.
Although the fellowship at Brewster Academy will be an exciting and transformative experience, I look forward to returning to Tallulah Falls School in the fall to continue my work and grow further as an educator and leader. I am confident that the lessons learned this summer will allow me to bring new insights and perspectives to my role at Tallulah Falls, ultimately benefiting both the students I serve and the broader community.
As I head into the summer, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities I’ve had this year and excitement for the next steps in my journey. I look forward to continuing to support students in their growth and development at Tallulah Falls, and I’m eager to see where the future takes us as we strive to create more opportunities for learning, engagement, and success.
